Dainty Doll Storm in A Teacup

As I have said many times, Dainty Doll is one of my favourite make up brands, particularly when it comes to cheeks and lips, so I was really excited to receive some products from their Summer Collection! Their Summer Collection contains everything you need to perfect your summer look, whether you like bright neons or a soft neutral look.

The collection contains three beautiful nude lipsticks, and I was sent Storm in a Teacup to try. It is a soft pinky brown, and it doesn’t give me the dreaded ‘concealer lips’ effect. This is a great shade for pale girls that don’t have pale lips. My lips are quite dark and have a lot of mauve tones, so I need a nude that just warms them up, rather than blanking them out.

Like all the Dainty Doll Lipsticks I have tried this has a satin/matt finish, and lasts pretty well. This is one of my favourite lipstick formulas, they never slide around, and will stay where you put them, they are somewhere between a MAC Satin and Matt finish.

If you have pale to medium skin and can’t get beige nude shades like MAC Hue to work for you, this lipstick is definitely worth a look. For me it’s a nude that I don’t have to think about, I don’t have to worry that it’s washing me out, or that I need to crank up the eye make-up to make up for it. Just perfect!

Dainty Doll Blusher in Money Talks

Dainty Doll are one of my favourite brands to buy from, they don’t sell a massive range of products but they sell some brilliant essential products, that are cater to pale skin. A lot of the shades that Dainty Doll sell are hard to find on the high street and even from brands such as MAC. Money Talks is described as ‘Bronze’ but it has no orange tones in it, and looks very believable on my skin tone.

I use this blush to sculpt and add some definition I blend it through the backs of my (non-existent) cheek bones and around the temples.

I have heard a lot of products described as the ‘perfect contour for pale skin’ and this is the closest I’ve come to finding it. It would work better as a contour if it was matte, but having the slight shimmer does mean it makes a nice blush shade on is on (when I use it as more of a contour I pair it with another blush).

As usual I love the packaging it’s sleek and doesn’t waste any space. I feel the pricing of Dainty Doll products is fair, it’s slightly cheaper than MAC, and I think the quality is equal if not better.

Carmine November: I’m in Love!

I’ve kept pretty quiet about the whole beauty box concept since they started launching, mainly to see what each one was offering and whether I felt any of them were right for me. When posts started popping up about the second Carmine box I knew I had to order it.

My box came today and this is what I received:

Lulu’s Time Bomb Flashback Night Cream: I feel like this product is maybe a little misplaced in this box, and doesn’t really fit the market it’s aimed at. I’ll probably passing this onto my Mum, as wrinkles aren’t really a concern of mine (yet!)

Neom Organic Body Lotion: This is a really nice body lotion, it absorbs quickly and my skin feels a lot less dehydrated. The smell is quite floral, and probably won’t be to everyone's taste, but I’m willing to ignore it as it works so well!

Dainty Doll Eyeliner in Goody Two Shoes: I’m a big fan of Dainty Doll products and I love this rich brown shade, I’ve read a loto f complaints that the blue shades were badly pigmented and hard textured, but this shade is soft and applies really well.

New CID i-Pout in Very Cherry: I think I lucked out with the shade that I was sent, a lovely deep cherry red, perfect for the festive seasons. This lipstick has a beautiful texture and feels like you’re not wearing anything, but is still very pigmented. This shade would suit most skin tones, and I’ll definitely be looking at some more shades.

Cosmetics a la Carte Brow Ink in Taupe: I love this! It gives a really precise line, and adds great definition.  A definite repurchase!

I’m so impressed with this box, 3 full size products all of which I would repurchase without a doubt, I would consider repurchasing the Neom body lotio and the only product I didn’t like was the Lulu Night Cream, but thats because I feel I’m too young for it, someone older might love it!

I’m Living in a Material World with Dainty Doll Lipstick in Material World

I’ve had this lipstick for a while, but for some reason it’s been ignored. I dug it out today for work, and I can’t think why I’ve left it stashed away for so long. The image above was taken after about an hours wear ( and consumption of half a pack of Double Stuff Oreos and milk, ssshhh!!!) Shades like this normally last half an hour on me before completely disappearing, but this one lasted a good 4 hours (which as I said included eating and drinking)  before I wanted to reapply. It’s got a lovely creamy texture and isn’t drying.

FOTD: Dark Lips and Earthy Eyes

This is the make-up I wore yesterday, which I came up with after having a bit of a play with my VIVO shadows, it was maybe a little OTT for a trip to my local, but nevermind. I think this would make a great simple Halloween look for like a with or something similar, but you would maybe wanna go a bit darker/greener with the eye make-up and add some really dark contouring.

Vivo Cosmetics FOTD

I was very excited yesterday when some Vivo Cosmetics dropped through my letterbox and couldn’t wait to get my hands on them! Being as I was at work yesterday evening I had to keep things fairly subtle, but I really enjoyed using the products.

I was sent the Pearl Eyeshadow in Golden Leaf (£1.50), Baked Blush in Rouge Shimmer (£4.00) and Primer (£6.00). From first impressions I love all of these products, I’m gonna have a little more of a play with them today, and write up some individual reviews, so watch this space!

Dainty Doll Lipstick in It’s My Party

As I mentioned yesterday, I discovered the new Dainty Doll concession in Boots and the line of lipsticks caught my eye, knowing I had just enough Boots points to cover one I limited myself to choosing one ( not an easy task!) and settled upon the bright coral pink ‘It’s My Party’.
The outer packaging is gorgeous, I love the design on the box, and it’s nice to see something different to a plain black box with nothing but a brand name.


It’s My Party is a beautiful shade for paler skin tones, it isn’t too orange or too pink, so will suit cooler and warmer toned skin, and because it’s so bright it will suit darker skin as well. Its a matte finish lipstick, and a tad dry, but not uncomfortable,  so you will want to exfoliate and use some lip balm. Because of the finish the wear time is very good lasting around 4 hours on me before it started to fade, and this could be lengthened with use of a lip liner or primer.

A little haul…

I went into Boots this afternoon to get a hair dye and couldn’t resist using some Boots Points (so I haven’t technically broken my no buy!) to get something from Nicola Roberts Dainty Doll range which has recently cropped up in selected Boots stores.

I picked up a lipstick(£12.50) 003 ( it’s my party) one of five colours in the lipstick range, all aimed at paler skin. It’s my party is a bright coral pink, although it looks a lot redder in the tube. I’ll be doing a full review in a day or so when I have tested wear time!

I also picked up a John Frieda Precision Foam Colour in Deep Cherry Brown. I’ve used this colour once before and I’m a big fan of the foam, not only because its easy but I only need one box to do my hair, where as with traditional dyes I would need two!
