NOTD: Models Own Magenta Pearl with Accent Nail

Magenta Pearl is a beautiful pearlescent hot pink with lots of really fine iridescent shimmer. It’s opaque in two coats, and applies really well with no streaking. I wanted to make it a little more festive so I popped one coat of Deborah Lippmann’s Razzle Dazzle on to my ring finger.

Magenta Pearl is one of the best Models Own polishes I have tried and in my opinion it applies a lot better than the cream formulas.

You can find Models Own Magenta Pearl at Boots or on they’re website where it is priced at £5.

NOTD: Models Red Red Wine

DSC_2109

I have a bit of a confession, until I bought this polish yesterday, I didn’t own a really great red polish. Red Red Wine, is a lovely deep red and the polish is a jelly formula, so its really easy to apply with absolutely no drag. Like all the Models Own polishes I have tried it’s opaque in two coats.

Models Own Smokey Eye Kit in Smoulder

DSC_1899

As I often do when I have a Saturday afternoon off, I found myself at Boots today, not looking for anything particular. Whist browsing the Models Own stand I was drawn to these cute little sets. The come in a range of colours and all contain three eyeshadows, two brushes and a step by step guide.

I picked up Smoulder; three warm neutrals. All the shades are very pigmented and have a beautiful texture, and shimmer without being full of glitter. Having never bought Models Own shadows before, I wasn’t sure what I’d be getting, but I’m very impressed with these. A lot of cheaper, but pigmented shadows, will kick up a lot of dust when using but that isn’t a problem with this.

The Step by Step Guide is a great addition to this product, and would be brilliant for people who aren’t confident with smokey eyes; and are unsure of colour placement etc.

The brushes are also worth a mention, for £8 I wasn’t expecting the brushes included to be anything I would use but both the angle brush and the shading brush are of great quality and I would use them happily. My only complaint would be the shading brush is a little small for using on the eyelid, but because of this it is great for smudging out eyeshadow/liner on the lower lashline.

Overall I think these are a great product, especially if you need a bit of a helping hand with smokey eyes. The colour range means there's some day-time friendly shades as well as more dramatic shades.

Models Own Smokey Eye Kits retail at £8 and are available from Boots. They also currently come with a free Black Kohl Pencil!

Models Own Lip Balm in Blackberry

DSC_1592

I picked this up in the Models Own 50% off sale, as I already own their  Lip Balm in Fuchsia and love it. Blackberry looks really dark in the pot but on lips it is a gorgeous suits-all berry tone, my perfect autumn colour.

Models Own lip balms have a lovely formula, the two I own are very pigmented, and really soften and moisturise your lips, which is perfect for me as a lot of the time I will choose a drying pigmented lip product over a moisturising sheer one. These are great because I don’t have to sacrifice colour for moisture, I can have both!

Lately I’ve been carrying this in by bag all the time, as it goes with most of the make-up I wear and is so easy to apply on the go. I’ve got my eye on the red shade next!

Models Own Lip Balms retail at £5 and are available at Boots.

Freaky Beetlejuice!

Thought I would share a couple of new releases I’m looking forward to…

Models Own Beetlejuice Collection

ModelsOwnBeetlejuice

Give me these gorgeous duochromes over girly pastels any day! I know I’ll have a hard time not buying all of these, and judging by the colours they’ll win me over much quicker than Accessorize’s duochrome polish offerings.

From they’re Facebook: ‘ NEW from Models Own and launching this November - The BEETLEJUICE Collection! Consists of FIVE new multi-tonal shades - GOLDEN GREEN, a fresh energetic acid; PINKY BROWN, a warm rusty pink; PURPLE BLUE, a vibrant punch of fuchsia indigo; AQUA VIOLET, a true sky shimmer; and EMERALD BLACK, a bold-blackened midnight peacock! Each bottle contains four pearlescent colours mixed into one gleaming shade, and the complex colour-shifting, with flashes of vivid tones and ethereal hues, gives a shimmering duo chrome finish. Priced at just £5 each and available early November exclusively at our website.’

There is also talk of these being available in a set, something I very much hope happens!

Illamasqua Freak

Illamasqua-Freak-Perfume-Bottle

Just look at that snail on the bottle! I would probably buy this just for the gorgeous design, and the fact it’s not like any perfume bottle I’ve seen before. Although I’m secretly hoping the scent is of the quality as the design.

It will be available to pre order on Monday, for more info check out Illamasqua’s Blog.

A Little Reminder…

Unless you have been hiding away for some time you will probably know there is a Models Own sale happening at the minute. As promised when they reached 50,000 likes on Facebook they released a code for 50% off all purchases of £20 or more (P&P is still it’s fixed price of £2.95, unless you spend over £25 once the discount has already been applied)

Being as it isn’t pay day for almost a week I haven’t been able to buy as much as I would of liked but I thought it would be rude no to buy a few bits:

b

I bought Nail Polishes in Purple Grey, Grace Green and Nude Beige. I haven’t tried Models Own Polishes yet but can’t wait to try these out!

I also bought a Lip Balm in Blackberry (read my review of the Fuchsia shade here) which looks like a great wine colour for autumn and winter.

I also bought a Lip Brush as for some reason my Mac one is constantly running away from me, and I can’t afford to spend another £15.

If your at all curious about Models Own products, now is the time to try them out! The sale finishes tomorow so get ordering!

Models Own Lip Balm In Fuchsia

DSC_1043
I’m fickle when it comes to lip balms, I tend to pick them up without thinking, use them non stop for about a wee, then put them in some unseen part of my room and lose interest in them. I have a feeling this wont be happening with this one.DSC_1058
Don’t be fooled my the term Lip Balm, this product really packs a punch! It’s a true fuchsia, with a slight iridescence, the colour reminds me of Mac’s Full Fuchsia (that was released with last years Christmas Collection). I would recommend applying with a lipstick brush, to control where you are putting the colour, as well as for hygiene reasons.
I think I will be reaching for this a lot while I’m on holiday, as I don’t want to spend time on doing heavy eye make up, I’d much rather slap on a bold lip and be out the door.]
