Elemis Fresh Skin Super Boost Moisturising Serum

Elemis is a brand I have always been intrigued but they are definitely a luxury brand, and they are just a little bit out of my price range! The Elemis Fresh Skin line is aimed at young skin (they say 16 to 25) and is much more affordable than the regular line, it’s still by no means cheap but it’s comparable to Clinique or Liz Earle’s pricing.

The Fresh Skin range will soon be launched at Superdrug, making it an easy to find and affordable option, for most. I was sent the Fresh Skin Super Boost Moisturising Serum to try.

The packaging is simple, functional but still nice enough to have on your dressing table. As with all Elemis products, the box carries the Elemis promise; all their products are free from Parabens, SLS, SLES, DEA, Mineral Oil, Artificial Colours and Silicones. Elemis focus on high performance natural ingredients and the lack of nasties in them make them a good option for all skin types.

This has a gorgeous texture, it’s really light and sinks in quickly, but still manages to be really moisturising. I have been using this morning and night, and I find it moisturising enough for my oily/sensitive skin, but if your skin needs more moisture you could follow it with a moisturiser.

I have loved using this product and I will definitely be buying it when it runs out, and will be checking out the moisturisers when they launch in store. If you don’t like heavy night creams or need an extra kick of moisture in your routine, this product is well worth a look.

Arora Shower Nectar: Pomegranate Passion

Arora is a new brand that is launching at Superdrug in April, the range consists of Shower Nectars, Bath Shimmers, Body Butters and Body Scrubs. Available in six delicious sounding scents, the whole range will be priced at a very purse friendly £3.99. I was sent the Shower Nectar in Pomegranate Passion, to try and have been using it for a couple of weeks.

I love shower gels, and when it comes to choosing scents I’m all about the foodie or fruity scents. Pomegranate Passion smells amazing and really brightens my shower. It is a strong fragrance and I do find it lingers on my skin, so if you prefer a lighter scent these may not be for you.

Compared to other shower gels in this price range (and indeed some more expensive ones) the texture of this is gorgeous, really thick and almost jelly like. It creates a really rich luxurious feeling lather, but still rinses away easily. You get a whopping 400ml of product for your money, that combined with the thick texture means these will last a good amount of time.

I am really looking forward to getting my mitts on more of this range, the Coconut Creme sounds right up my street…as does the Sweet Vanilla, and at £3.99 it would be rude not to. Right?

Christmas at Superdrug

Superdrug have got some great gift sets out for Christmas, all the ones I have featured are in the 3 for 2 offer meaning there are some great deals to be had. New for 2012 are the Studio Look Books, a similar concept to the Frontcover sets, each of the nine books, contains products to create a look, that’s represented on the cover. I like the fact that each of the books ha the same model on the cover, it makes it easier to translate the looks. I was sent the Metallic Eyes (£6.99) and the Mascara Wardrobe (£7.99), both contain some really lovely products. The Metallic Eyes set has four baked eye shadows all of which have a lovely texture and a very pigmented for baked shadows. It also comes with a glitter eyeliner and a mascara, as an eyeliner, I’m not too keen on the glitter eyeliner, but it makes a nice sticky base for the eyeshadows. The mascara is nice, nothing ground-breaking but a nice everyday mascara.
The mascara set contains three mascaras, a brow gel and a set of lash curlers, the curling mascara is the highlight of the set, and the other mascaras are of the same vein as the one contained in the Metallic Eyes kit. The lash curlers make a nice back-up, but I don’t think they’ll be replacing my Shu’s.
I was also sent the Simply Treats (£4.99) set which features some products from Superdrug’s Simply Pure skincare range, all are Vegetarian and Vegan friendly and Paraben and Fragrance Free. The Simply Treats set contains, the Smoothing Face Scrub, Cleansing Face Mask and Light Moisturiser. These would make great gifts for anyone with sensitive skin (like myself) and I particularly love the Cleansing Face Mask, it’s really helped calmed down a bad break-out I had recently. The moisturiser is also great, especially for oily skin, as its very light in consistency. Although it does contain silicones, so if you’re avoiding them you might want to pass on this. I like the Face Scrub, but Scrubs in general tend to irritate my skin, so I haven’t been able to test it properly.
I’ll definitely be heading to Superdrug to see what other sets they have to offer, they’re all such great value, and there’s some real gems that would make lovely gifts for family and friends.

I’ve got a day off, today, and I’m spending it watching Season One of The Walking Dead.  After so many Vampire film/tv shows saturating entertainment lately it’s nice to have a show with a different monster. Autumn Daytime FOTD

It’s September, so I don’t care what the weather’s like, it’s Autumn. My favourite make-up season. Pale skin becomes the popular choice, and eye, lip and cheek colours get deeper and darker and I can stop pretending I want to wear neon eyeshadow. I tried out some classic autumnal colours in celebration.

Sleek Bad Girl Palette - £6.49

I’ve been lusting over this for a while, but my Superdrug never had it in stock, however since their refurbishment their stock levels have been a lot better and they had all of the permanent Sleek palettes in stock.

Sleek Blush in Suede - £4.29

I’ve been getting a bit tired of pink blush lately, so I had to give this matte nude a try. It’s a really easy to wear shade, perfect for going with bolder lips or dramatic eyes. It also doesn’t go orange on the skin, so still works on pale skin.

Post Work Hauling
